About Dominique's School of Dance

Dominique’s School of Dance opened it’s doors in 1993 as a small studio in Dominique Hutchinson’s home in Hopkins Landing on the Sunshine Coast.

Dominique’s School of Dance thrives on being a truly special place to learn to dance and express oneself. Our team of certified professionals focus on giving a personable and creative approach to all of our disciplines. For the serious dancer we offer day program,  syllabus for all levels of exams in Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) Modern and Tap, and Acrobatic Arts in preparation for continuing studies and opportunities in the world of dance.

Our school offers classes in RAD Ballet, Progressive Ballet Technique , Pointe work, Ballet for Boys,  Hip Hop, Street Jazz, Contemporary, ISTD Modern, ISTD Tap, ISTD Jazz,  Acrobatic Arts, Kinderdance, Dance with Me and Adult programs.

The school is also home to DSdanse Youth Performing Company. Auditions are held once a year to form the Company. DSdanse is for the committed and focused dancer age 10 – 19. Dancers must demonstrate strong technique and movement expression and be able to work with an team. Dsdanse focuses on dance composition and performance. While dance is the connective element between each person, the desire to be part of a supportive, creatively challenging and noncompetitive dance environment is what sets them apart. DSdanse dancers are involved in the creative process and are encouraged to express themselves with dance as an art form under the artistic direction of Dominique Hutchinson.

Each season DSdanse performs throughout the community and works towards a full length theatre production held in the spring.

NOTES: DSdanse is a high school accredited program for students in Grades 10 to 12 .
